HOW TO REPORT AN AML PROBLEM?

What is an AML Problem?
Under the Navajo AML Reclamation Plan, abandoned mine land problems are abandoned coal and non-coal mine hazards that present an immediate danger to the public health, safety, or general welfare.

Typically, abandoned mine land problems include: landslides, open portals and shafts, subsidence, and waste bank and underground mine fires discovered near houses, roadways, and populated areas. Because health, safety, and property can be seriously threatened by Abandoned Mine Land problems, rapid response is critical.

Where should the AML problem be reported?
Abandoned Mine Land problems can be reported to the Field and Administrative Offices of the Navajo AML Reclamation Department located in Window Rock, Tuba City ,Arizona, and Shiprock, NM.  

What Information needs to be reported?
When reporting an Abandoned Mine Land problems you should include your name and telephone number, a brief description of the problem, location of the site, and the name and telephone number of any other person(s) who is knowledgeable about the problem.
